King: Pat Riley could "surprise people," predicting LeBron return in free agency?

In today's Nets rumors and news update, Brooklyn Nets general manager Billy King is doing his best to handle his team's business rather than get worked up by the craziness of the 2014 NBA free agency period.

While the Brooklyn Nets don't have the cap space to be major players on the traditional free agency market, new head coach Lionel Hollins will work with King closely to make sure the team is set and ready to roll in 2014-15.

However, per Fred Kerber of the New York Post, King is still keeping an eye on all the chaos which is transpiring throughout the league:

There’s only a few teams with space, and guys are going to choose where they’re going to go,” said Nets GM Billy King, who sidestepped specifics of matters occurring elsewhere — namely Miami.

“There’s always movement. If big-name guys move, it changes the landscape a lot. So that affects you in a certain way in how you view your team.

“I don’t want to get into talking about other teams and what they may do,” King said. “I will say I have a lot of respect for [Heat president] Pat Riley, and when people write them off or write him off, he tends to do something to surprise people. He’s done it numerous times and rebuilt the franchise.”

Whether King is talking about a potential mass re-signing of Miami's Big Three or Riley's propensity to make fireworks happen even if someone like LeBron James leaves, Riley could end up being the spoon that stirs the NBA drink this offseason - a possibility that King seems to be preparing for.
