In today's breaking Nets news update, Brooklyn Nets head coach Jason Kidd will likely leave his post with the team after one year on the job, after a clash with ownership over Kidd's request for an expanded role in the franchise's hierarchy.
According to Andrew Keh of the New York Times, "Kidd’s likely exit comes after a recent clash with ownership about expanding his role in the organization, according to a person in the N.B.A. with knowledge of the situation."
The 41-year-old Kidd came to the Nets' ownership with a request to become the president of the team's basketball operations - a promotion which would land him above general manager Billy King on the organizational ladder.
The Nets declined Kidd's proposal and granted him permission to speak with the Milwaukee Bucks about a potential new job with the level of power he is looking for.
Kidd currently has three years and $10.5 million left on his current contract with the Nets. Per Keh's report, the Bucks and Nets are said to be in talks about a compensation package which could land Kidd in Milwaukee sooner rather than later.
