Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Medical Mutual Athletes of the Week, as selected by the strategic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are soccer player Vinny Worner and golfer Nichole Cox.
Vinny Worner, a senior from Copley, Ohio, scored a 'Golden Goal' to give the Falcons a 1-0 win over No. 21 Akron Sunday. The win lifted BGSU into sole possession of first place in the MAC standings, and was BG's first win over the Zips at Cochrane Stadium since 2002.
