With MAC title in reach, Bowling Green aims to cross off first goal

BOWLING GREEN — Fairly or unfairly, life in a one-bid conference comes down to a few days in March.

The ultimate prize of going to the NCAA tournament rewards timing more than anything else, as one well-positioned run in the conference tournament can erase a .500 record just as an early exit can dampen a great regular season.

In the Mid-American Conference, that part will be decided next week in Cleveland.

First is something that has not gone overshadowed at Bowling Green: winning the league’s regular-season title.

The No. 1 seed in the MAC comes with an automatic bid to the National Invitation Tournament should a team not qualify for the NCAA field, and the Falcons control their own destiny for the No.
