BOWLING GREEN — Students have not yet returned to Bowling Green State University, but Falcons hockey coach Ty Eigner already has smashed his previous record for virtual meetings in a school year.
In addition to regular meetings with his coaching staff and administration, Eigner is taking part in college hockey's attempt to stay coordinated, meeting weekly with BG's current league, the WCHA, biweekly with their revived league, the CCHA, and periodically with the other 61 Division I head coaches to discuss options for the upcoming season.
Before anything takes place on the ice this season, everyone in college hockey is discussing how — or if — a season can take place this year with the coronavirus pandemic causing mass postponements among fall sports.
