BOWLING GREEN — A 30-second span midway through the third quarter significantly changed the game for Bowling Green State University’s women’s basketball team on Saturday.
Toledo slapped on a full-court press, and the Falcons struggled to break it.
Three straight Toledo buckets off BGSU turnovers helped the Rockets build a 19-point lead. Turnovers were critical in the Falcons’ 88-68 Mid-American Conference loss at a crowded Stroh Center as BGSU committed 20 turnovers.
Toledo took advantage with a 32-6 edge in points off turnovers.
The Falcons have been playing with a thin bench for a majority of the MAC portion of their schedule, but they are not using lack of depth as an excuse when it comes to costly mistakes like turnovers in key games.
