BOWLING GREEN — The last time the Battle of I-75 was played at Doyt Perry Stadium, the unbelievable happened.
Bowling Green State University entered the game as a 27-point underdog and had lost nine in a row to archrival Toledo. None of that mattered on the afternoon of Oct. 12, 2019.
The Falcons played a complete game, made the right plays when it mattered on both sides of the ball, and ultimately pulled off a 20-7 victory over the Rockets in a game that meant vindication for BGSU’s players, coaches, and its fanbase that sustained nearly a decade of defeat.
