The University of Toledo baseball team came up with two shutout victories over Bowling Green State University in a doubleheader Friday at Scott Park.
With the two wins, the Rockets (21-31, 14-13 MAC) put themself in a better position to make the Mid-American Conference tournament. Toledo will make the tournament with an Eastern Michigan loss on Friday or Saturday or a Western Michigan loss on Saturday. If Eastern and Western both win their remaining games, the Rockets will miss out on the conference tournament.
In the opening game against Bowling Green, Toledo starter Sam Shutes pitched a complete game shutout in a 4-0 victory and in the second game, Michael Jacob stymied the Falcons in a 3-0 Rockets win.
