Strong start lifts BGSU women's basketball past Central Michigan

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. — Bowling Green State University’s women’s basketball team jumped out to a 28-16 lead after the first quarter and withstood a late rally from Central Michigan to post an 80-72 Mid-American Conference victory on Wednesday at McGuirk Arena.

With the victory, BGSU broke a program record for road wins in a season. The Falcons, who are 13-2 in true road games, topped the previous record of 12 set by the 1986-87, 2005-06, and 2007-08 teams.

Four players scored in double figures for BGSU, which improved to 24-3 overall and 13-2 in league play. Allison Day had a game-high 20 points (9-of-16 shooting) with five rebounds, and Jocelyn Tate had 14 points and five steals.
