BOWLING GREEN — Offensive line play was a difficult topic of conversation entering the 2021 season for Bowling Green State University football.
It remained so through the first half of its season.
The team’s inability to run the ball was a detriment overall to the offense, and the Falcons were looking as one-dimensional as it could get by relying heavily on quarterback Matt McDonald to make plays with his arm and his legs.
The offensive line lost a key component in senior Sam Neverov, who missed the start of the season and was forced to retire due to medical concerns, and the unit was undersized and left with a lot of youth, but the improvements made over the course of the season have been visible, especially in the Falcons’ last three games entering Saturday’s contest against Buffalo.
