BOWLING GREEN — In a clash between the reigning giants of the Mid-American Conference and the league's young, up-and-coming contenders, upstart Bowling Green knocked out Central Michigan 76-67 on Wednesday night.
Bowling Green (16-4) trailed the defending MAC champion Chippewas 52-46 with 3:43 left in the third quarter when the Falcons went on a decisive 20-4 run.
Bowling Green seized a 66-56 lead with 4:54 left in the game and never looked back.
The Falcons solidified their perch atop the MAC standings as they improved to 12-3 in conference play. The defending MAC champs CMU fell to 11-5 in conference play.
