Torrance, Calif. – Redshirt sophomore Rachel Walny broke the school record late Thursday night in the 10,000 and redshirt junior Rebecca Schott moved into fourth all-time in school history in the event. The duo competed in the 10,000 at the 59th annual Mt. SAC Relays, one of the biggest track and field events of the year.
Walny's time of 34:02.57 was more than a full minute faster than her collegiate personal best, which she set a year ago in placing third at the Mid-American Conference Championships. It broke the 10,000-meter school record, which had stood for 31 years since Sara Collas ran 34:17.
