BOWLING GREEN — From the opening tip of Friday’s game, Bowling Green State University’s men’s basketball team did everything it needed to do to come away with a win.
The Falcons dominated the boards 50-38 against the No. 1 rebounding team in the Mid-American Conference in Akron, held the high-scoring Zips nine points below their season average, and led for more than 36 minutes.
The only thing missing was the ‘W’ when the final buzzer sounded.
BGSU’s heartbreaking and last-minute 71-68 loss to Akron in the MAC opener at the Stroh Center was the latest narrow defeat for the Falcons (5-8), who lost by single digits for the fifth time this season.
