VICTORIA, B.C., Canada — The Bowling Green State University women’s basketball team opened its play in the Victoria Invitational with a 73-54 loss to the Green Bay Phoenix on Thanksgiving Day.
Green Bay (4-2), winners of seven of the previous 10 Horizon League championships including four straight from 2014-2018, controlled most of the game against the Falcons (3-2).
The Phoenix held leads of 19-11 after the first quarter, 35-25 after the second, and 52-43 after the third.
Green Bay pulled away in the game’s closing quarter, outscoring the Falcons by 10 points.
Two players from each team scored in double figures, while Green Bay guard Frankie Wurtz scored a game-high 24 points in a game-high 37 minutes played.
