BOWLING GREEN — As regulation ticked away Tuesday at Doyt Perry Stadium, Bowling Green faced a scenario it had practiced all week.
The game was tied at 28 and Kent State needed six yards on a third down late in the fourth quarter. Bowling Green had a plan to keep scrambling Kent State quarterback Woody Barrett inside the pocket on clear passing downs: Stay mindful of rush lanes and make sure at least one defender — a spy — watches Barrett’s every move.
Yet during the game’s biggest play, Barrett did exactly what Bowling Green feared he would.
