Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Vito's Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are hockey player Chris Nell and swimmer Victoria Griffin.
Male Athlete of the Week
Chris Nell, a sophomore from Green Bay, Wisc., stopped 42-of-43 shots as hockey went on the road to sweep Bemidji State 4-1 and 2-0. Nell earned his third shutout of the season Saturday night with 28 saves and backstopped a defensive unit that was 7-for-7 on the penalty kill, including one 5-on-3 opportunity.
