BOWLING GREEN — A University of Memphis women’s basketball player has been charged with assault following a postgame incident in the handshake line after Bowling Green State University’s Women’s National Invitation Tournament win over the Tigers on Thursday night at the Stroh Center, according to BGSU Athletics.
Memphis fifth-year senior guard Jamirah Shutes punched Bowling Green State University senior guard Elissa Brett following the Falcons’ 73-60 victory in the WNIT Super 16.
“Following Thursday’s unwarranted physical incident after the WNIT home game, the Bowling Green State University Police Department has charged a member of the Memphis Women’s Basketball team with assault,” BGSU said in a news release early Friday afternoon.
