SAN ANTONIO — The biggest win in Bowling Green’s basketball history? That’s easy. In February, 1963, the Falcons shook The House That Roars — the old brick barn later named after coach Harold Anderson — in a 92-75 victory over unbeaten eventual national champion Loyola-Chicago.
The second biggest? That’s up for debate, but in the conversation is their 98-85 dusting of Steve Smith and fifth-ranked Michigan State in 1990.
Fans might recall one of the stars that afternoon, a lithe junior forward named Steve Watson.
A generation later, he is the athletic director at Loyola, the man behind the scenes of the school’s enrapturing return to prominence.
