FINDLAY — Lauren Gerken’s college plans took a little bit of a twist in the past couple of weeks with the coaching change in Bowling Green State University’s women’s basketball program.
The Liberty-Benton junior standout verbally committed to BGSU and coach Robyn Fralick in early October. But Fralick took over as Michigan State’s mentor on March 31 and has since been replaced by former South Carolina assistant Fred Chmiel.
Gerken is among a handful of BGSU signees and verbal commits who will likely have to go through the recruiting process — or a version similar to it — again in pursuing their college basketball dreams.
