BOWLING GREEN — Linebacker Hassan Belton will be forced to medically retire from the Bowling Green football team.
Belton, who was in line to be a redshirt senior this fall for the Falcons, said in a Twitter post that a knee injury will prevent him from continuing his football career. The South Carolina native tore the anterior cruciate ligament in one of his knees in the Falcons’ game last season against Maryland.
Belton said he is on track to graduate this summer and will pursue a career in coaching.
The injury Belton sustained last season took place in Belton’s second game at Bowling Green.
