BOWLING GREEN — On the final day of the Mid-American Conference tournament, Bowling Green found itself in a position that no one outside of its locker room reasonably could have expected during the preseason.
There were the Falcons — nearly unanimously picked to finish last in the MAC — ahead of 30-win Buffalo with eight minutes to go in the conference championship game on Saturday. By now, you know the ending. The Bulls, the best team in the league from beginning to end, created the decisive run by outscoring the Falcons 24-8 to conclude the game.
Bowling Green ultimately opted against a postseason tournament after it was left out of the NIT.
