BOWLING GREEN — A season-ending injury to goaltender Zack Rose brought a brief whirlwind to Bowling Green State University’s hockey program.
The veteran netminder is expected to miss up to six months with a torn left hip labrum, leaving only freshmen Christian Stoever and Pete Eigner as the goaltenders on BGSU’s roster into a rigorous stretch run to finish the back-half of the regular season.
After two weeks of visits, meetings, and going through the university’s enrollment process, enter Salvatore Evola.
Evola, often affectionately with his first name shortened to “Sam,” was officially added to the team’s roster last week as its third goaltender.
