Lexington, Ky. – Senior Makenzie Wheat and redshirt junior Aliyah Gustafson competed in the shot put at the NCAA East Region Preliminary round Saturday, hosted by the University of Kentucky. The duo each had a best throw of 48-feet (14.63m), but were unable to finish in the top 12 to earn a bid to the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field National Championships.
For Wheat, the meet meant the conclusion of one of the most consistent and outstanding careers in BGSU Women's Track & Field history. She became just the second Falcon to qualify for the NCAA regionals in all four years of her career, and the first to do so under the current two-region system.
