Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Medical Mutual Athletes of the Week, as selected by the strategic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are baseball player Kyle Gurney and track and field thrower Kaila Butler.
Kyle Gurney, a freshman from Belleville, Mich., hit .533 (8-for-15) with five RBI and three extra-base hits in BGSU's Battle of I-75 rivalry series with Toledo. Gurney recorded at least one hit in all four games, extending his hitting streak to nine games.
