BOWLING GREEN — Bowling Green State University’s women’s basketball team started the 2023-24 season with a remarkable win in the final seconds.
The Falcons outscored Cleveland State 7-0 in the final 11.7 seconds with the help of a Vikings’ technical foul after calling a timeout with none left, and BGSU came away with an 89-86 victory on Tuesday at the Stroh Center.
Fred Chmiel, who took over as BGSU’s coach earlier this year after spending eight seasons as an assistant at South Carolina, earned his first victory as the Falcons’ mentor.
BGSU’s Amy Velasco banked in a 3-pointer with 11.
