Game recap: BGSU men's basketball tallies much-needed victory over Northern Illinois

BOWLING GREEN — Bowling Green State University’s men’s basketball team got back in the win column with an efficient performance in an 84-77 Mid-American Conference victory over Northern Illinois on Tuesday at the Stroh Center.

BGSU (8-14, 3-7 MAC) led the entire game en route to snapping its five-game losing streak. Northern Illinois fell to 5-17 (1-9 MAC), including 0-12 on the road.

The Falcons assisted on 15 of their 27 field goals in shooting 45 percent from the floor. BGSU had just 14 assists in its previous two games combined.

Senior forward Marcus Johnson had game highs of 22 points and 13 rebounds — a season high, as well — with four assists and three steals to lead BGSU.
