Game day updates: Miami 3, Bowling Green 0 – 2nd quarter

BOWLING GREEN — Here are updates from Saturday’s college football game between Bowling Green and Miami (Ohio). This story will be updated after each quarter.

FIRST QUARTER

Bowling Green won the toss and elected to defer its choice to the second half. The Falcons’ defense put itself at a disadvantage early in the drive by committing a facemask and unnecessary roughness on the same play. Paced by a sack from senior outside linebacker Demetrius Hardamon, Bowling Green forced Miami kicker Graham Nicholson to try a 41-yard field goal, which he made.

On the Falcons’ opening series, coach Scot Loeffler was aggressive early, dialing up a sneak for senior quarterback Matt McDonald on fourth-and-one from Bowling Green’s own 33-yard line.
