AKRON — Here are updates from Saturday’s college football game between Bowling Green and Akron. This story will be updated following each quarter.
FIRST QUARTER
Akron won the coin toss and deferred its choice to the second half. Capitalizing on a lengthy kickoff return by sophomore running back Ta’Ron Keith, Bowling Green drove inside the Zips’ five-yard line before Akron stuffed junior running back PaSean Wimberly on a fourth-and-goal pitchout. The Zips exited the shadow of their end zone before quarterback DJ Irons was stripped by junior defensive lineman Jordan Porter; junior inside linebacker JB Brown jumped on the ball to give the Falcons possession.
