BOWLING GREEN — Bowling Green State University’s effort early on Saturday night was a breath of fresh air compared to Friday.
The Falcons kept the No. 1-ranked hockey team in the country at bay for the first 20 minutes, and set the table for what was expected to be a closely contested matchup of Central Collegiate Hockey Association rivals.
Minnesota State never gave that a chance to materialize and, for the second straight night, St. Francis de Sales graduate Brendan Furry was a major factor why.
After electrifying the arena with a two-goal performance on Friday, Furry scored a power-play goal in the final minutes on Saturday in helping the Mavericks to a 5-0 win over the Falcons at the Slater Family Ice Arena.
