BOWLING GREEN — Former Memphis women’s basketball player Jamirah Shutes, who was charged with assault following an incident in the handshake line after a game vs. Bowling Green State University, appeared in Bowling Green Municipal Court on Monday morning.
Shutes, who had previously entered a not guilty plea, was charged after an incident report stated she punched then-Falcons senior Elissa Brett after a Women’s National Invitation Tournament game March 23 at the Stroh Center. On Monday, a judge set her bail on an own recognizance bond.
Shutes was ordered to not have contact with Brett, and she cannot threaten or attempt to cause harm to any other person or property.
