CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — Jerry York, who led the Bowling Green State University hockey team to a national championship in 1984, announced his retirement from coaching on Wednesday after 50 years behind collegiate benches.
York finished a 28-year run at Boston College, where he won four national championships. He joined the Eagles’ program after a 15-year run as Bowling Green’s head coach, and before that he had a seven-year stint as head coach at Clarkson University.
"I have been thinking about the possibility of retiring during the past several weeks and it just seemed to me to be the right time to do so," York said in a release from Boston College.
