LYNCHBURG, Va. – Bowling Green State University’s football team certainly had its chances to walk out of Williams Stadium with a season-opening win on Saturday.
But a handful of throws that fell into Liberty’s hands proved to be too much to overcome.
BGSU starting quarterback Connor Bazelak threw three interceptions on three consecutive passes in the second quarter, including a pick-six, and backup Camden Orth threw two in the second half. Liberty turned those into 13 points as it helped the Flames hold off the Falcons 34-24.
“When you have five interceptions, that’s tough to overcome,” BGSU coach Scot Loeffler said.
