BOWLING GREEN — There’s no question that Fred Chmiel wears his heart on his sleeve, especially when it comes to coaching basketball.
The second-year Bowling Green State University women’s hoops mentor cares deeply about his players, but he certainly isn’t afraid to let them know when they did something wrong.
“He’s a very tough coach, but it’s all heart,” BGSU sophomore forward Taya Ellis said. “He’s very passionate about the sport, and for me personally, I love that tough coaching.
“When somebody gets on me, it’s like ‘Damn, I’ve got to do better.’ If a coach says ‘Oh it’s OK,’ I’m going to think ‘OK, it’s OK.
