Fast start, strong finish help BGSU women's basketball hold off Western Michigan

KALAMAZOO — A sensational first quarter proved to be just enough for the Bowling Green State University’s women’s basketball team as the Falcons led wire-to-wire in a 70-63 Mid-American Conference victory over Western Michigan on Wednesday at Read Fieldhouse.

The Falcons won for the fifth time in their last six games to improve to 14-11 (7-6 MAC). The Broncos fell to 10-14 (6-7).

BGSU raced out to a 26-10 lead after the first quarter, but the Broncos worked their way back within five points late in the fourth. The Falcons, though, came up with key stops defensively and made enough free throws in the final three minutes to secure the victory.
