Falcons tally 3 in 3rd period for tie

BOWLING GREEN — Brent Tate summed up the start of the Bowling Green State University hockey team’s game Friday night against Michigan Tech with an apt boxing analogy.

“We got punched in the face first,” Tate said. “We came out flat, they were winning races and were more physical than us.

“We got to our game in the second and third period.”

The Falcons scored three times in the third period, including two goals in a 14-second span, to forge a 4-4 overtime tie in an important Western Collegiate Hockey Association game played in front of 3,168 fans at the BG Ice Arena.
