BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University baseball team nearly came all the way back to erase a five-run deficit on Sunday afternoon (May 14), but the Falcons fell just short as Northern Illinois University held on for a 6-5 win at Steller Field.
The win enabled the Huskies (9-40, 5-21 Mid-American Conference) to avoid being swept in the three-game weekend series. The Falcons (18-29, 11-16 MAC) downed Northern by scores of 21-1 on Friday and 5-4 in 10 innings on Saturday.
NIU scored twice in the first inning and three times in the second, and the visitors still led by a 5-1 count before a bases-loaded triple by Jack Krause made it a one-run game in the sixth.
