BOWLING GREEN — Bowling Green State University is in a do-or-die mode after sleepwalking through the first game of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association best-of-three quarterfinal series against Bemidji State.
The Falcons fell 3-1 to the Beavers before a crowd of 1,789 fans at BGSU Ice Arena. Game 2 is at 7:07 p.m. today.
“That was as poor of an effort as we’ve had in a while,” BG coach Chris Bergeron said. “But full marks to Bemidji and I don’t want to take anything away from their game plan and their execution and their compete level.”

The Falcons fell behind 3-0 in the second period and never really put any real pressure on a Beavers team that seemed to be a step quicker on loose pucks and more willing to push for position on the ice.
