Falcons' Jinks has 1st practice outside

BOWLING GREEN — Give new Bowling Green State University football coach Mike Jinks credit: the Texas native did not give in to the weather of northwest Ohio.

The Falcons started spring practice Monday, and despite temperatures in the 40s, Jinks mandated that the first practice be held outside.

“This is beautiful,” Jinks said as the wind whipped around Doyt Perry Stadium. “I’ve watched about as much film as I can watch, so it was great to run around and watch everyone in person.”

Junior linebacker Austin Valdez said the start of spring practice was a welcome change from the conditioning that has filled the time since BG’s appearance in the GoDaddy Bowl just before Christmas.
