BOWLING GREEN — Last year, Bowling Green State University entered the Western Collegiate Hockey Association tournament with a lot on its plate.
Winning the WCHA tournament was important, to be sure, but the Falcons also were in the hunt for an at-large NCAA tournament bid, so the tournament title did not seem to be essential.
This year, the Falcons want to do what last year’s team did not — earn an NCAA tournament bid by winning the WCHA tourney, which begins today with the first game of a best-of-three series against Bemidji State at the BG Ice Arena.
