BOWLING GREEN — Drastic changes brought on by the coronavirus pandemic made budgeting unpredictable for college athletic departments, though Bowling Green State University's biggest budget line has seen an unexpected increase.
Administrators across the country have wondered openly about how the pandemic would affect their enrollments, but at BGSU, the student population surprisingly increased this fall to its greatest size since 2011.
The university announced Friday that its fall semester enrollment went up to 20,232 students, an increase of 1.6 percent from last year.
Further, BGSU said it retained more than 79 percent of its students, an increase of 2.
