BOWLING GREEN — A dominating second quarter gave Bowling Green State University’s women’s basketball team the boost it needed as the Falcons knocked off Northern Illinois 72-54 in a Mid-American Conference game on Wednesday at the Stroh Center.
BGSU ended its three-game losing streak to improve to 11-8 (5-4 MAC). Northern Illinois fell to 9-11 (3-6).
The Falcons used a 22-2 advantage in the second quarter to take a 40-26 halftime lead. BGSU made 10 of 13 shots in the quarter, while Northern Illinois was 1 of 13 with eight turnovers.
The Huskies’ lone basket of the quarter came with 1:54 left when Brooke Stonebraker scored on a putback.
