BOWLING GREEN — One of the best seasons in Bowling Green State University women’s basketball history came to an end on Wednesday.
Columbia stormed out to a 23-7 lead midway through the first quarter and held off every BGSU comeback attempt as the Lions outlasted the Falcons 77-70 in a Women’s National Invitation Tournament semifinal at a jam-packed Stroh Center.
BGSU, which played in its first semifinal in eight trips to the WNIT, finished the year 31-7 in tying the 2006-07 squad for victories in a season.
“What a great run,” BGSU coach Robyn Fralick said.
