BOWLING GREEN — Chris Bergeron, the head coach of Bowling Green State University’s hockey team for the past nine seasons, has accepted an offer from Miami University to become the RedHawks’ next head coach.
Miami will announce the hiring later Friday.
The RedHawks fired Enrico Blasi, under whom Bergeron was an assistant coach, last month after 20 years.
Bowling Green offered a new contract to Bergeron this week, but the pull of home was a key factor in Miami’s pursuit of Begeron, a former center who helped lead Miami to its first NCAA tournament as a senior in 1993.
