That’s how one confidant of Scot Loeffler described his reaction Friday to the Bowling Green State University football coach picking up and leaving for the NFL.
Loeffler — who in six seasons had elevated the Falcons to a respectable plateau — was in the process of negotiating a contract extension with BG, all the while wondering how much longer he could last.
Even by the workaholic standards of a college coach, he had no balance.
Loeffler once shared with me his bizarre in-season sleep schedule: three hours a night Sunday through Wednesday before his body began to shut down on Thursday.
