BOWLING GREEN — Before former Toledo star Quinyon Mitchell became the first defensive back taken in this year’s NFL draft, a shutdown cover man for the first-place Philadelphia Eagles, and a leading candidate for defensive rookie of the year honors, he was — believe it or not — the best cornerback in college football.

The NCAA officially recognizes five All-American teams, as selected by the Associated Press, American Football Coaches Association, Football Writers Association of America, Sporting News, and Walter Camp Foundation.
Mitchell was not a first-teamer on any of them.
