Despite trailing for most of the game and only leading for a total of 64 seconds, Florida pulled out a thrilling 65-63 victory to claim its third national title. The Gators (36-4) battled back from a 12-point deficit to the Cougars (35-5) early in the second half; Florida also overcame second-half deficits of nine and 10 points, respectively, in its previous two wins over Auburn in the national semifinals and Texas Tech in a regional final.
