ST. LOUIS — Bowling Green State University’s Jovannah East will compete in the NCAA gymnastics championships held at Chaifetz Arena this weekend.
East, a sophomore from Zion, Ill., qualified for the event by posting a 39.250 score in the all-around competition at the NCAA Central Regional meet hosted by Ohio State on April 8. East was one of two at-large regional qualifiers for the national event.
East is the first Bowling Green gymnast to qualify for the national meet since Marny Oestreng in 1999, and is the first all-around competitor in school history. Oestreng qualified in the floor exercise in 1999 and won the national title in that event.
