BOWLING GREEN — A balanced scoring effort helped the Bowling Green State University women’s basketball team defeat Northern Kentucky 76-68 on Wednesday at the Stroh Center.
Four BG players surpassed the 10-point mark as the Falcons improved to 4-1. Elissa Brett had 16 points and eight rebounds, Allison Day and Amy Velasco 15 points apiece, and Jocelyn Tate 12 points and 11 rebounds.
The Falcons led most of the way but did not lead by more than 10 points. Northern Kentucky (3-2) led briefly three minutes into the third quarter on a 3-pointer by Lindsey Duvall, but Velasco answered with a 3-pointer of her own that was followed by a Brett 3-pointer that put the Falcons up for good.
