BOWLING GREEN — Bowling Green State University women’s basketball coach Robyn Fralick has accepted the head coaching position at Michigan State University, The Blade has learned.
Fralick informed her team of the decision Friday afternoon.
A native of Okemos, Mich., which neighbors East Lansing, Fralick will take over for longtime Spartans coach Suzy Merchant, who stepped down on March 13. Fralick had recently been linked to the opening, including on Wednesday when the Detroit News identified her as a leading candidate for the position.
Fralick turned BGSU around in a hurry in her five seasons leading the Falcons, culminated by a run to the program’s first Women’s National Invitation Tournament semifinal appearance this season.
