Bowling Green women earn season-opening win over Valparaiso

BOWLING GREEN — The Bowling Green women's basketball team led by a single point at the end of three quarters in its season opener against Valparaiso, but the Falcons used a 19-1 run to open the fourth quarter to propel them to a 70-60 win on Sunday at the Stroh Center.

Bowling Green led 48-47 after three quarters of play, but Valparaiso did not make a field goal in the fourth quarter until the 2:29 mark when the Falcons had built up a 19-point lead that proved to be enough.

Freshman Lexi Fleming paced the Falcons with 24 points in her collegiate debut, while junior Kadie Hempfling chipped in with 10 points.
